When it comes to branding & marketing is often a source of confusion right see through it people coming into the branding & marketing for the first time or people who have been in the industry for quite a long time some see marketing and branding as one and the same thing, some see branding as a subset of marketing or some people skip pass branding and go altogether to marketing and that don’t ever ends in one way. It is totally understandable why there are people confused in the difference between the two and it's the same reason where some put them in the same basket

When it comes to branding & marketing is often a source of confusion right see through it people coming into the branding & marketing for the first time or people who have been in the industry for quite a long time, some see marketing and branding as one and the same thing, some see branding as a subset of marketing or some people skip pass branding and go altogether to marketing and that don’t ever ends in one way. It is totally understandable why there are people confused in the difference between the two and it’s the same reason where some put them in the same basket. They both have the same end goal which is:

Appeal to the relevant audience in order to grow the business

YES, branding and marketing are part of the same team and they support each other sharing the same goal, so first one entrepreneur and sea level executives can be forgiven for the confusion. But make no mistake branding & marketing are very different in their approach
Marketing is bet strategically by placing each thing at the right place at the right time in order to ultimately convert audience into customers
Branding is heavily influencing the message that marketing delivers. Branding is about making connections and building trust in order to nurture relationship with new or existing customers and ultimately grow a loyal customer base.

Taking an object lesson, if you have to defy your persona and who you are as a person then

The marketing department would be the best dress version of yourselves, require and attract potential suiters over drinks while branding department would be going to dinner, sharing stories holding hands cuddling up at night making those connections that build trust, nurturing that relationships.

Without marketing department, we might never meet that person in the first place…
Where in the branding department, we wouldn’t be able to hold on to them.

What most businesses get wrong is where they mismanage the balance of branding and marketing, spending too much time and energy on pickup lines and buying drinks and not enough time on making connection with building trust and in the end they look back and can’t remember who they’ve met, because they’ve all come and gone.

So yes, it is important to own a best dress version of your business to impress potential customers.
Marketing can be an endless pit of money if you don’t have a strategy and the systems in place to nurture those relationships.

Marketing is attracting
